FOR A NEW APPROACH TO DOCUMENTARY PHOTOGRAPHY
Photography and visual storytelling have never been more present in our lives. Every day new spaces are opening up for documentary photography, offering new perspectives for storytellers and their stories.
At the crossroads of the cultural sector and the media industry, documentary photographers must invent their own unique economic models and learn how to find their way in a sector undergoing deep changes. Decreasing budgets in the press, the closure of agencies and the pressure of free services on the web are the main negative aspects. But the opening up of the art market, the growing demand for an author's gaze from institutions and companies, the connections with the research community and the potential for transmission in the field of image education are real opportunities to be grasped.
This is why I decided in 2019 to create AK Whispers, a consulting and development agency dedicated to documentary photography projects and the careers of their authors. My approach consists of a global support, from the production to the distribution, by offering innovative strategies adapted to every project.
